Ganderbal, May 28(KNO): There are only seven active positive cases of Covid-19 in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district out of the total 31 positive cases as 24 patients have been cured and discharged so far. An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that no positive case has been detected in the district since May 23 and the patients who had contracted the virus are also recovering. “This has been possible only after tracing the suspects, and to put the suspected people in quarantine who had travel histories" he said. He said that random screening and testing in the hotspot villages and coordination with the police and health workers had helped them in identifying the suspects. Total number of cases in the district stands at 31 of which 7 are active while 24 patients have been recovered so far. “Since we have 31 positive cases, 107 people are under administrative quarantine in 5 different quarantine centers established in the district,19 in hospital quarantine and 363 people have been advised to remain home quarantine,” the official said. He said that the authorities had closed all the entry and exit points leading to red zone villages of the district to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Nodal officer Kangan, Dr. Shahid Ul Islam told KNO that they are doing all to prevent a large outbreak and they are dealing with the situation effectively. “We were all prepared earlier as well but unfortunately our administration was caught napping when this deadly virus struck us out of nowhere,” he said. Meanwhile, district administration has appealed the people living in Ganderbal to come forward for screening and testing to help them fight this virus effectively and make the district Covid free—(KNO)\
